Structural Features

Structure is full height tilt panel (35t, 150thk, 10.5m high), clear span portal frames (38m wide), 10t gantry crane, supported from driven timber piles. Site has settlement sensitive subgrade requiring a program of HEIC (high energy impact compaction).

The gantry crane was initially intended to cover 30% of the warehouse. With future proofing in mind, Tungsten Structures suggested the gantry crane be rotated to span the 38m warehouse width and steelwork be upgraded so the crane could extend to cover 100% of the warehouse.

The client jumped at the opportunity for future flexibility for little upfront costs and again Tungsten Structures' valuable contribution paid off, completely outside our specific discipline of structural engineering.
